Over the past several months you’ve heard how Ioxus is changing the game for alternative energy storage by rethinking ultracapacitor design and production. This trend continues with the finalized release of our iMOD X-Series™ product line. A family of 22 modules, the iMOD X-Series’ core technology is extremely flexibility and simplifies system design and installation for the end-user by offering customers nearly an infinite array of possible mounting configurations.

Built modularly to maximize quality and value, the core includes integrated wire management systems to ensure proper wire location, integrated heat sinks, and unmatched 5,000 VAC hi-pot. The modules are chemistry agnostic – meaning when we release a new, higher energy technology, we can easily include it and maintain the exact footprint.

The fins were optimized with several variables including surface area. The result is the largest surface area possible to fit in size constraints while minimizing mass. Combined with the high-temperature capabilities of our Titan™ cell technology, the new modules can be used in locations where other ultracapacitors cannot be used. This is a tremendous advancement in ultracapacitor design.

  • uSTART® Lead-Free Replacement for Truck Batteries

    ONEONTA, N.Y.Jan. 9, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Ioxus uSTART® has received two fleet industry awards for sustainability by eliminating lead-acid batteries with its ultracapacitor-based, drop-in battery replacement.

    "With uSTART, fleets not only realize the benefits of improved starting reliability, there are equally important and real sustainability improvements from lead waste reduction," said Chad Hall, executive vice president and co-founder of Ioxus. "By replacing one of the batteries on a vehicle with a uSTART module, up to 15 fewer batteries are needed over the lifetime of the vehicle. This translates into 1,000 pounds of lead that will never need to be disposed of or allowed to affect groundwater."

    EU legislation on batteries is embodied in the European Battery Directive.  Its objective is to contribute to the preservation and improvement of environmental quality by minimizing the negative impact of batteries and battery waste.  As these preservation efforts expand, sustainable technologies develop to manage and mitigate these risks.
