The Cost Benefits to Using Ultracapacitors in Cars – A White Paper Overview

Given our recent focus on the blog, you’d be hard pressed not to recognize the enormous potential for ultracapacitors in the automotive industry. Consumers are pushing for cleaner, most cost-efficient vehicles, as is the government, and automotive OEMs are working quickly to create efficient hybrid vehicles.

Despite the fact that the demand for clean transportation is growing, consumers are unwilling to give up the luxuries in their cars to which they have grown accustomed. Though increasingly advanced, the technology in hybrid vehicles today struggles to support the demands and needs from both manufacturers and consumers.

Ultracapacitors are more reliable and longer-lasting than batteries, the technology commonly employed in hybrid vehicles today. So, what is holding back OEMs from adopting ultracapacitors in all vehicles? The answer – cost. While many are discouraged by the high upfront cost of using an ultracapacitor, the reality is that over the lifetime of a vehicle, ultracapacitors are the best, most cost-effective energy storage system available on the market today.
