High-Powered Ultracapacitor Modules for UPS Applications

In the midst of hurricane season, we are experiencing more frequent brownouts and blackouts. The U.S. loses up to $100 billion each year due to power outages, so backup power is essential to keep businesses running. Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) protect electronics from outages or disturbances by providing enough ride-through power until the power source regains stability. A UPS system using an ultracapacitor can provide enough short-term power during an outage to allow the organization to switch to an alternate power source or shut down electronics properly.
