Ioxus Asia Limited Opens in Hong Kong

Today we announced a new entity in Hong Kong: Ioxus Asia Limited. We’re increasing our presence in the region, where Chinese demand for optimized, cost-effective energy storage solutions is strong and growing. The wind turbine and hybrid bus markets, in particular, are expanding, and Chinese manufacturers see ultracapacitors as a critical factor in their pursuit of more efficient applications. Now is a critical time for Ioxus to be on the ground, filling and customizing orders to help local companies capitalize on the potential of smaller components.

As part of this expansion, Ioxus Asia Limited will conduct direct business with local enterprises, as well as support regional distributors including Secotec Ltd, Sinotek, Beijing Favor, GT Advanced Energy Technology Shanghai Ltd. and Asiacom Technology. We’re fielding significant orders in China, and our recent partnership with a local facility to manufacture, assemble and test modules will let us serve Chinese customers more quickly.

We’re also launching a localized Chinese website this month, just one piece of the marketing organization we’re deploying in the region. All of these efforts build on the success of our Asia Pacific distributor network, which we announced in late 2010. The network, which delivers technical and marketing support to local partners, was formed in direct response to expanding interest in the region in ultracapacitors and hybrid capacitors. Chinese manufacturers want the capacity for immense storage, faster response times and lower peak power requirements. With the opening of Ioxus Asia Limited, we’re one of the only global companies meeting that demand.

  • uSTART® Lead-Free Replacement for Truck Batteries

ONEONTA, N.Y.Jan. 9, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Ioxus uSTART® has received two fleet industry awards for sustainability by eliminating lead-acid batteries with its ultracapacitor-based, drop-in battery replacement.

"With uSTART, fleets not only realize the benefits of improved starting reliability, there are equally important and real sustainability improvements from lead waste reduction," said Chad Hall, executive vice president and co-founder of Ioxus. "By replacing one of the batteries on a vehicle with a uSTART module, up to 15 fewer batteries are needed over the lifetime of the vehicle. This translates into 1,000 pounds of lead that will never need to be disposed of or allowed to affect groundwater."

EU legislation on batteries is embodied in the European Battery Directive.  Its objective is to contribute to the preservation and improvement of environmental quality by minimizing the negative impact of batteries and battery waste.  As these preservation efforts expand, sustainable technologies develop to manage and mitigate these risks.

Replacing a lead-acid battery with uSTART in a typical commercial vehicle creates measurable environmental benefits:
